Saint Leo, Fla. (March 29, 2008) – The Saint Leo men’s tennis team (3-10, 0-3 SSC) were off the mark Saturday afternoon at the SLU Tennis Center losing to the Florida Tech Panthers (13-8, 2-2 SSC) 7-2.

Saint Leo used doubles competition to obtain both of their points on the afternoon. The No.1 pair of Brandon Stacey (Sr., Galesburg, Ill.) and Saif Noorsumar (Sr., Karachi, Pakistan) won a hard fought match 9-7. The other Lions victory came from third seed action, as the duo of Pablo Chavez (Fr., Margarita, Venezuela) and Michael DelPriore (Sr., Englewood, Fla.) outlasted the Panthers pair of Joel Zahlan and Drew Hollis 8-6. The SLU No. 2 duo of David Farinez (Sr., Puerto Orvaz, Venezuela) and Diego Timoteo (So., Brazil) fell in their match against James McLane and David Fowler.

In singles competition, the Panther swept the Lions. No.5 player DelPriore gave the Lions their best opportunity at picking up a point. DelPriore won the first 6-1, but fell in the second set 7-5 and lost the super tiebreaker third set 10-8. The Lions No.2 singles player, Stacey lost 6-2,6-3 and the Lions No.5 player Timoteo dropped his match 6-3, 6-2.
