Saint Leo, Fla. (March 3, 2008) – The Saint Leo men’s tennis team (1-8) were swept by the Northwood University Timberwolves in a non-conference match Monday afternoon at the SLU Tennis Center, 9-0.

The Saint Leo doubles tandem of Brandon Stacey (Sr., Galesburh, Ill.) and Saif Noorsumar (Sr., Karachi, Pakistan) led all doubles duos and provided the most exciting doubles match-up of the day. The matchup was witness to the Lions and Timberwolves exchanging point for point but the Lions didn’t match the last two points as they fell 9-7

Stacey also led the way for the Lions in singles action. The Lions number two singles player fought hard against the Timberwolves number two but didn’t come up with enough shots for the a victory. The first set had to be decided by a tie breaker between the two player but Stacey fell in the late stages of the set, 7-6 (7-5). Stacey rallied back in the second set before dropping the final few points giving Northwood the victory 6-3.
