Boca Raton, Fla. (February 9, 2008) - The Saint Leo University men's tennis team (0-3, 0-1 SSC) fell 9-0 to top-ranked Lynn University in Sunshine State Conference action Saturday morning.
Taking all three doubles matches to open the contest, the Fighting Knights (1-0, 1-0 SSC) breezed through the singles competition without losing any more than four games in the first five positions.
Ninth-ranked Julien Carsuzaa and Lorenzo Cava won 8-3 in the first doubles position while sixth-ranked Tomas Racak and Diego Rodriguez won 8-4 at the No. 2 spot. The duo of Alessandro Sarra and Axel Joachim posted the first shutout with an 8-0 victory in the third slot.
In singles, the Knights had no problems dispatching the Lions (0-3, 0-1 SSC). Tenth-ranked Cava blanked Pablo Chavez 6-0, 6-0 in the top position while No. 9 Carsuzaa won 6-2, 6-2 against Brandon Stacey in the second spot.
Positions three-through-five also recorded at least one 6-0 set as No. 44 Racak won 6-0, 6-1 against Saif Noorsumar, Sarra defeated David Farinez 6-2, 6-0 and Rodriguez topped Michael DelPriore 6-0, 6-0. Saint Leo's closest match came in a 6-4, 6-1 loss by Diego Timoteo to Joachim in the sixth spot.
Saint Leo returns to the court on Tuesday at Florida Southern.
