Urbaniak tabbed as SSC Men’s Swimmer of the Week

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo junior Jan Urbaniak recorded three individual first-place finishes, two of which came with NCAA "B" cut qualifying times, in the Lions' 186-68 win over Rollins College last Friday and was named the Sunshine State Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week for the week ending October 31.

Urbaniak won the meet's two distance freestyle events with NCAA "B" cut times. He took first place in the 1000 Freestyle with a time of 9:34.89, and captured a win in the 500 Freestyle with a time of 4:35.78. Both times are second-fastest in the SSC this season in those events, while the 500 Free mark is third-fastest in all of Division II.

Urbaniak also touched the wall to claim first in the 400 Individual Medley with a time of 4:06.86; that times ranks second in the SSC, and eighth in all of Division II.

Altogether, Urbaniak accounted for 27 points in Saint Leo's team total of 186 in the win over Rollins.

The Lions return to competition on Thursday, Nov. 17, when they head to Melbourne, Fla., to compete in the four-day Florida Tech Invitational.
