SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo men's swimmer Hunter Bains claimed Sunshine State Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week honors on Monday, after recording a pair of NCAA "B" cut times in two swims over the weekend.

Swimming in the Colorado Mesa Intermountain Shootout against Colorado Mesa, Utah, Brigham Young, and Air Force, Bains posted a "B" cut time of 1:39.45 in Friday evening's 200 Freestyle race and finished second in the race. With the altitude adjustment, Bains' time was reduced to 1:38.25 for NCAA qualification purposes.

In Saturday's 100 Freestyle race, Bains recorded another second-place finish with a "B" cut time of 45.61, which received an altitude adjustment to 45.51.

This is the second SSC Swimmer of the Week award for the junior from Monument, Colo.; Bains received the award once during this freshman campaign.

The entire Saint Leo men's swimming team will be in action this Friday, Oct. 14, when the Lions travel to Boca Raton, Fla., to compete against Florida Tech. The Saint Leo women's swim team will compete in a double-dual format against both the Panthers and the host squad from Lynn University.
