Four Men and Two Women to Attend 2014 National Championships
SAINT LEO, Fla. – Six Lions have earned a trip to the 2014 NCAA Division II Championship Meet, it was announced, Wednesday. Four men, and two women will make the trip to Genevia, Ohio, to take part in the DII Championships, which will be held at the SPIRE Institute.
Matheus Assis gets the nod after earning qualifying times in the 50 Free (19.95), 200 Free Relay (1:20.68), 100 Fly (48.07), and 100 Free (43.89) events. Joining him in the 200 Free Relay will be teammates Patrick Ceddia, Gabe Keown, and Milton Alberto-Requejo.
For the women, Stephanie Martinez will make the trip after qualifying in the 1000 Free with her time of 10:14.55. Joining her from the women's squad will be Nicole Weber, who has earned qualifying times in the 100 Breaststroke (1:03.18), and 200 Yard Breaststroke (2:14.48).
Forty-eight swimmers in total have been invited from the Sunshine State Conference. Florida Southern will send 12 men and six women, Lynn will send two women, Nova Southeastern will send seven men and one woman, and the University of Tampa sending nine male and five female representatives.
