SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's and women's swim teams dove back into action entering into the new year, hosting the 2012 Saint Leo Relays at the Bowman Center Pool on Friday morning. The Lions finished first in 17 of 18 events that they participated in, and were runners up in the men's 400-Yard Medley Relay. Both the men and women finished first out of four teams, with the women compiling 156 points and the men pulling in 154.
The Lions came out on top as they hosted Pfeiffer University, Wheeling Jesuit, and Lake Erie College. Behind Saint Leo on the women's side of competition, Pfeiffer finished the morning with 98 points and a second place position, followed by Wheeling Jesuit and Lake Erie with 82 and 38 points, respectively. Pfeiffer pulled in a second place finish behind the Green and Gold on the men's side, earning 84 points. Lake Erie College finished third with 78 points, and was followed closely by Wheeling Jesuit in fourth with 68 points.
The quad meet concluded the Lions' winter training regimen, which included participating in the OB Invitational in Key West, Fla., and will kick off the second half of the Green and Gold's Sunshine State Conference slate. The Lions will take on SSC foes Florida Southern and Rollins in the upcoming weeks, and will then train for the Sunshine State Conference Championships, with hopes of qualifying for the NCAA Championships in March.
