Men’s Swimming No. 11 on Latest Avidasports Ranking

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's swim team came in at No. 11 on the latest Avidasports Performance Rankings list for NCAA Division II institutions.

The Avidasports Performance index is a ranking of average percentile for each team's individual swims compared to collegeswimming.com's database of best times achieved by collegiate swimmers over the past three years. Teams must have a minimum of eighteen individual swims to qualify for each week's rankings.

"It's nice to see some objective results as to where we sit in the national scene at this point in the season," said head coach Paul Mangen.  "It's a good way to show our improvement this season, and for the athletes to gauge what they need to work on to make sure we continue to accomplish our goals."

So far this season, 12 individual results rank in the Top-25 within NCAA Division II.  The 400-Free Relay team of Michael Cozzi, Chris Canene, Tim olson, and Gabe Keown currently ranks fourth, while the 200-Medley Relay team of Antonio Roki, Canene, Keown, and Olson comes in at 15th.

Individually, Gabe Keown ranks 17th in the 50-Free and fourth in the 100-Free.  Tim Olson is currently 23rd in the 100-Free, 23rd in the 100-Fly, and 25th in the 200-Fly.  Michael Cozzi comes in at No. 17 with his 200-Free time, while Chris Canene ranks 16th and 18th in the 100-Breast and 200-Breast events, respectively.  Rounding out the list, Derek Maddigan ranks 21st and Carl Roycroft comes in at No. 25 in the 200-Breaststroke.

"Coming off of a fun win against a team like Tampa, we look to continue to drop the times at the SCAD Invitational this weekend," coach Mangen concluded.  "After the SCAD Invite, we'll hopefully have some great momentum built up going into our holiday training, part of which will take place in Key West.  We're looking to make a lot of improvements and keep the energy and excitement going throughout the break."

The Lions return to action at the SCAD Invitational, December 1-3, hosted by the Savannah College of Art & Design in Savannah, Ga.  For the latest news, updates, and information on the Saint Leo men's swim team, visit SaintLeoLions.com.
