Men in Fourth, Women Fifth After Day One of SCAD Invitational

SAVANNAH, Ga. – After day one of the SCAD Invitational, the Saint Leo men's and women's swim teams sat fourth and fifth, respectively. 

Highlighting day one were the men's "A" and "B" 800-Free Relay squads.  The "A" team finished third, with Gabe Keown, Tim Olson, Michael Cozzi, and Chris Canene pulling in an overall time of 6:55.01.  The "B" squad of Derek Maddigan, Rhet Rheinlander, Antonio Roki, and Carl Roycroft finished fourth with a time of 7:11.34.

The three-day SCAD Invitational continued Friday morning, kicking off a full slate of activities for day two.

Earning notable finishes after Friday morning's preliminary rounds were Michael Cozzi, who came in with a first place time of 1:41.46 in the 200-Yard Free.  Keown earned a second place finish in the 50-Yard Free prelim, while Canene earned the top time in the 200-Yard Breaststroke (2:05.41), followed by Maddigan in third (2:08.87).

Sandra Stopczynska touched with a time of 2:25.91, good for third in the prelim round of the women's 200-Yard Breaststroke event.

Olson and Keown finished second and third, respectively, in the men's 100-Yard Fly, with times of 51.58 and 51.61, rounding out the morning's significant preliminary round finishes.
