MIAMI, Fla. – Erin Hotchkiss concluded the evening with a pair of second-place finished, but it was not enough as the Lions fell 167-34 to Division I Florida International University, Saturday afternoon from the Bay Vista Aquatic Center in Miami, Fla.

Hotchkiss got Saint Leo on the board with a four-point heat win in the 200 Yard Freestyle. In the race, Hotchkiss had to close more than a second and half gap over her opponent, but unfortunately could not claim victory as Vican Torres touched one-tenth of a second in front of her.

Hotchkiss returned to the pool for the 100 Yard Butterfly and answered the bell one again, finished second out of seven swimmers. Her time of 1:01.55 was 1.35 seconds off the lead pace. Also placing was Alisha Adams. Adams grabbed second-place in the 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 1:03.53, more than two seconds ahead of the third-place finisher.

Sarah Earls continues to impress as a freshman, toting a time of 5:54.54 in the 500 Yard Freestyle. Her fourth-place showing made her the top Lions’ finisher in the six person event.

Saint Leo returns to the pool for their final regular season meet against Blue Mountain Conference foe Rollins on Saturday, February 6th. Shotgun start time is set for 11:00 a.m.
