TAMPA, Fla. – The Saint Leo men’s swimming team fell in a double dual meet against Bluegrass Mountain Conference opponents the University of Tampa and Rollins College on Saturday afternoon from the UT Swimming Complex.  The Lions dropped a 65-30 decision to Rollins and a 76-19 final score to Tampa.

The Lions only saw one first-place finish as sophomore Tim Olsen won the 100 back with a time of 56.54, beating the second-place finisher by a scant .23 seconds.

Although a week of below normal temperatures kept the Lions out of the pool for a couple of days, Saint Leo still managed to place in the top-4 in seven of the nine events. Besides Olsen’s top-finish, he also claimed second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 53.59.  Sophomore Matt Attal earned a second-place spot in the 500 free with a 4:59.60 time.

The Lions will now take almost a month off before traveling to Charlotte, North Carolina to compete in the Bluegrass Mountain Conference Championships.  The meet begins at 8:00 a.m. on February 11.
