Winter Park, Fla. (March 4, 2007) - The Saint Leo men’s and women’s swimming teams had a successful meet at the 2007 Sunshine State Swimming Championships last weekend in Winter Park, Fla.  Both teams finished fourth overall, as the University of Tampa swept the men's and women's events

The Lions set and re-set records throughout the day, as they had three podium finishers in the event.  Erin Hotchkiss (Fr., Tampa, Fla.) was second-place in the 200fly, while Sarah Tatko (So., North Port, Fla.) was third in the 1000free.  In addition, the men finished third in the 800 freestyle relay.

Each of the Lions’ team member made a championship final swim, as Saint Leo’s record-setting day included a number of school records.  The men set 14 school records, while the women set five.

The full breakdown of the day was as follows:(SR denotes a school record):

Sarah Tatko – 500freestyle 8th / 1000freesyle -3rd  / 1650 freestyle 4th SR

Erin Hotchkiss – 500freestyle 6th      SR / 200 fly – 2nd    SR / 200 free -8th

Amanda Tatko – 1000frestyle 6th / 1650 freestyle 7th

Erin Lucas – 50 freestyle 8th / 100 backstroke – 6th  SR / 200backstroke 4th SR

Keaton Medley -400IM 5th

Kristen Stahl – 400IM 6th / 200Fly – 4th

Scott Fink – 100fly 8th SR  (also a SR in the 200 Fly)

Kyle Gramm – 200freestyle 7th

Brian Kiessling – 400IM 5th (Brian set 4 school records, 200/400 IM and the 200 and 50 Freestyle as a relay lead-off split)

Travis Robbins – 1000free 4th SR / 1650freestyle 5th SR  (also a SR in the 500 Free)
