SAINT LEO, Fla. – James White was named the Sunshine State Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the week after leading the Lions to two victories last week in goal, for the week Oct. 17-23.
On the year, White moved to 4-2 on the year in goal for the Lions after playing all 180 minutes last week between the posts and recording seven saves on 30 shots he faced. White allowed just two goals over the span of 180 minutes and earned one clean sheet at Tampa on Wednesday, Oct. 19.
In the Lions' 3-2 win over Florida Southern on Saturday, Oct. 22 at home, White recorded two saves, including a huge deflection on the Moccasins final corner kick with 42-seconds left in regulation. White and the Lions are on a three-game win streak after the two victories this past week.
This is White's fourth honor of his career and is the second SSC Player of the Week award for the Lions this season. Marcelo Casas won the Offensive Player of the Week back on Sept. 26.
Saint Leo, 5-6, 3-4 SSC, hits the road for the final two games of the 2016 regular season this Wednesday, Oct. 26 at Nova Southeastern and Saturday, Oct. 29 at Palm Beach Atlantic; both games are scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
