Men’s soccer moves to #9 in this week’s NSCAA coaches poll

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo University men's soccer team moved up to No. 9 in this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America Coaches' poll announced Tuesday, Sept. 13.

The Lions are one of four Sunshine State Conference teams in the top 25 behind No. 2 Lynn. Barry falls in the top 15 at No. 13 as Tampa slides in the top 25 at No. 21.

Saint Leo is 1-0-0 on the year as they defeated preseason No. 9 Young Harris 3-2 on opening weekend. Lynn jumped from four to two this week after defeating previous No. 1 and now No. 7 Pfeiffer, 2-1, over the weekend.

Regional rankings this week broke down with the SSC holding onto the top eight of the ten total spots with Lynn in first. Saint Leo took second, followed by Barry, Tampa, and Rollins to round out the top five. Eckerd comes in the regional ranks in at sixth where Florida Tech follows the Tritons and Palm Beach Atlantic in eighth. 

The Lions get back to action this Wednesday, Sept. 14 when they travel to Eckerd for the first SSC game of the year at 7 p.m.
