Keith Fulk Named NSCAA South Region Coach of the Year
KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Fresh off of a Sunshine State Conference title and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament, Saint Leo University Men's Soccer Coach Keith Fulk has been named the NCAA South Region Coach of the Year by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) as it was announced by the organization on December 9.
In his third season as head coach at Saint Leo, Fulk captured the Lions' first SSC regular-season title since 2005 after his squad upended then-undefeated and No. 1 Rollins in the regular-season finale in double overtime. The three-time conference Coach of the Year guided the Lions to as high as a No. 7 national ranking in a season where the Lions went 13-2-2.
It was Fulk's leadership efforts in bringing Saint Leo back into the national spotlight which helped to develop the lineup that rose to the top of the SSC and saw a number of players earn conference and regional honors after the Lions wrapped up their season in the South Region Tournament.
Coach Fulk will join winners from the seven other regions in NCAA Division II as their names will now appear on the national ballot. The national ballot will contain all regional coach of the year winners, as well as any final four coaches that did not garner recognition as a regional coach of the year. The national Coach of Year winners will be announced during the College Highlights show on Tuesday, December 17, 2013.
This is his second NSCAA South Region Coach of the Year honor, his previous coming in 2001 alongside a National Coach of the Year during his National Championship season while at the University of Tampa.
