LAKELAND, Fla. - Despite two goals in the first 45 minutes from Maximilian Schulze-Geisthovel, the Saint Leo men's soccer team's contest against host Florida Southern was cancelled at halftime due to lightning. The Lions were leading 2-0 at the point of cancellation.
A storm in the Lakeland area caused multiple lightning delays totaling nearly two hours, forcing officials to cancel the game. Because the game did not reach the 71 minute requirement to be counted as official, the game will be erased from the scorebooks and will be restarted from the beginning when it is rescheduled.
The make-up date is scheduled for Sunday, September 15 at 7:00 p.m. The game will start from the beginning.
