MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Despite staying even with host Barry University, the Saint Leo men’s soccer team surrendered two goals in the final 25 minutes as the Lions fell 3-1 to the Buccaneers on Saturday night in South Florida.  With the loss, the Lions fall to 6-7 overall and 2-4 in the SSC while Barry improves to 10-4-1 and 4-2 in conference.

After a scoreless first half, the first goal of the match came during the 49th minute from Barry (10-4-1, 4-2-0 SSC) striker Mark Anderson. The score came from an Andres Perez and Sascha Koettig pass as Anderson worked around a defender at the top of the box and slid a shot under Saint Leo goalkeeper Erik Mozzo into the right side of the net.

Saint Leo forward Viktor Winknor evened the match in the 63rd minute. A Lion corner kick was headed to the top of the box where the freshman Winknor drilled a shot through traffic into the back of the net tying the game.

The heartbreaker came from the foot of Buccaneer Randy Taylor. Taylor found a BU corner kick at the top of the box and fired a laser into the upper 90, making the score 2-1 in favor of the home team.

The Buccaneers added an insurance goal as time wound down, closing out the contest with a three-goal advantage.
