Saint Leo, Fla. (November 1, 2007) – For the third time in four years, a Saint Leo University men’s soccer team member has been honored as the Sunshine State Conference freshman-of-the-year.

The All-Conference team was announced Thursday and forward Jonathan Glenn (Maloney Gardens, Trinidad & Tobago) was named freshman-of-the-year and was one of three Lions tabbed for All-League honors. Glenn was picked on the second team.
Two Lions were named to the first team. They were junior forward Eusebio Montoya (Smithfield, NC) and junior midfielder Brandon Whitsett (Palm Harbor, Fla.).

The team was voted upon by the league head men’s soccer coaches and sports information directors. Saint Leo completed regular season play by finishing in a tie for fourth place in the conference with 13 points and a 4-3-1 record. The Lions are 9-5-3 overall.

Whitsett was the league’s top freshman in 2004, while Montoya won the honor the following year and also was voted All-Conference on the second team.Glenn completed regular season play with 32 points, second best on the team. He started 12 games and played 13 overall. He tied for the team lead in goals with 14 and added four assists. 

Montoya started all 17 games and led his team in scoring with 35 points. He tallied 14 goals, which tied Glenn on the team, and chipped in with seven assists. Whitsett started 15 games and played in 16 overall. He is third on the team in scoring with five goals and a team high 13 assists for a total of 23 points
