Winter Park, Fla. (September 27, 2006) – Three goals in a five-minute span helped the Saint Leo University men’s soccer team (6-4, 2-1 SSC) overcome a two-goal deficit and defeat the Rollins College Tars (8-2, 2-1 SSC) by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday night in Winter Park, Fla.  The game ended with 6:10 remaining in regulation due to a lighting failure.

Saint Leo forward Asmir Pervan (Sr., Simmern, Germany) sparked the comeback with two goals including the game-winner in the 80th minute, while Luis Quintero (Jr., Cape Coral, Fla.) also added the second goal and an assist in the match.

Rollins took the lead in the first half through Chris Cerroni’s 10th goal of the season in the 21st minute, and the Tars doubled their advantage with a 49th minute strike from Chris Chafin.

After Rollins was reduced to 10-men in the 63rd minute, the game began to turn.  Pervan pulled a goal back in the 75th minute and Quintero then equalized three minutes later with a perfectly placed free kick from the edge of the penalty area.

The game-winner was scored in the 80th minute when Tommy Poston (Sr., Birmingham, England) delivered a perfect cross, which was headed home by Pervan for his 10th goal of the year.

Saint Leo will host Nova Southeastern University on Saturday (7:00 p.m.) in another SSC match.  The night will mark Youth Club Night and all boys youth soccer players wearing their team jersey will earn free entry into the game along with their parents.
