Saint Leo, Fla. (August 15, 2006) - The Saint Leo University men's soccer team was ranked No. 10 in the nation in the NSCAA/adidas NCAA Division II Pre-Season Poll released Tuesday. SLU dropped one spot from its position of ninth in the final poll of 2005.

The defending Sunshine State Conference Champion Lions are one of three teams from the SSC in the pre-season top-25. SSC pre-season favorite Lynn University, which reached the NCAA Division II national semifinals a season ago, was ranked No. 3. Rollins College, which was not ranked in the final poll of 2005, enters the new season at No. 25.

Defending DII National Champions Fort Lewis College topped the pre-season poll with last year's runner-up, Franklin Pierce College second.

The Lions men's soccer team was the first team in SLU history to claim a conference championship a season ago, as it went 15-2 en route to an NCAA Division II South Region Final appearance.
