Head men’s lacrosse coach Brad Jorgensen was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Recreational Services during the summer of 2010. He will oversee the Lions’ entire recreation program including the Bowman Center Pool and the Waterfront, which have been under the Department of Athletics since 2008.
In addition to teaching wellness classes at Saint Leo, the quickly-growing Saint Leo Fitness Center will also be under his guide. Jorgensen, using his previous experience as Director of Club Athletics and Professor of Physical Education at Wheaton College (MA), is the most qualified individual currently on the Saint Leo staff that has experience in recreation.
In addition to his administrative roles, Jorgensen was hired as the first-ever head coach of the Saint Leo University Men’s Lacrosse team in January 2005.
He came to Saint Leo from Wheaton College where he was Men’s Lacrosse coach at the Division III school in Norton, Mass. since 1997.
Jorgensen is a 1995 graduate of Springfield College (Mass.) with a bachelor’s degree in movement and sport science. He was a midfielder for four years on the Division II team and was named First Team All-America in 1994 and 1995. Springfield won the NCAA Division II Championship in 1994 and was national runner-up in 1995. Springfield won the ECAC Championship in 1993.
In addition to his duties and responsibilities for Saint Leo, he is also a member of the NCAA Lacrosse Rules Committee as well as a current member of the South Region Advisory Committee for Division II Lacrosse.
Jorgensen completed his MBA with a concentration in Sport Business at Saint Leo in 2009. He and his wife Caroline have two sons, Thomas and Charlie, and reside in Wesley Chapel, Fla.
