FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The No. 15 Saint Leo men's lacrosse team took down Emmanuel, 26-3, on Monday afternoon in non-conference action in Franklin Springs, Ga.
Junior Jake Gilmour and Kyle Pauwels both recorded nine points as they each tallied six goals and added three assists. This marks the second-straight game Pauwels recorded six goals.
Gilmour's three assists give him 61 total assists in his career, putting him atop the Saint Leo Career Assists record board all by himself. Entering Monday's game, Gilmour was tied with George Proechel (2010-13) at the top of the Saint Leo Career Assists list with 58.

How it happened 1Q | Saint Leo went on an offensive bombardment in the first five minutes of the game as all five goals came from Jake Gilmour and Kyle Pauwels. Pauwels found Gilmour for the score for the first two goals before the roles reversed, and Gilmour found Pauwels for his first of the game. Pauwels tacked on his second just 50-seconds later without an assist. A minute following that, Pauwels again found Gilmour to give the Lions a 5-0 lead with 10:10 left in the open quarter. 2Q |Jake Kavanagh scored the first goal for the Lions as he picked up a ground ball and ran through the opposing defense for the score. It was followed by Devin Sparks' lone goal of the game. Saint Leo would go up 8-1 after Gilmour found Pauwels for his third goal of the half. Gilmour followed it up with his fourth goal of the game before Jason D'Aoust would tack on another for the Green and Gold. Gilmour would then once again find Pauwels for another score. Freshman Daniel Sparks ripped a shot from deep to make it 12-1 before Liam Christensen would score his first goal of the season. 3Q | Pauwels started off the scoring in the second half as Philip Buque found Pauwels for the first score. Pauwels scored his sixth goal of the day unassisted, making it 15-2. Freshman long-stick middie Jack Spera added his first career goal. Gilmour then tacked on his fifth and sixth goals, the first unassisted, and the second was off a pass from Buque. Zach Lysyk had added back-to-back goals before a Rob Cavanaugh goal closed out the quarter. | Saint Leo 21-2
4Q | Junior Nick Argitis scored his first goal of the season to open the final quarter, and that was followed by a Justin Hindman goal. Lysyk tallied his third goal of the game off a Buque assist before Buque would get a goal of his own. D'Aoust tallied his second of the game to close out the scoring for the Lions. Emmanuel's Machado recorded his second of the game with just 17 seconds left to play. | Saint Leo 26-3.
Points to note
Saint Leo's 26 goals ties a single-game high for the program.
Nine points ties Gilmour's career-high, which he set in his eight-assist performance against Lees-McRae in 2016. Six goals marks Gilmour's career high.
Saint Leo won 29 of 33 face-offs for a new school record for face-off wins. They set the previous record of 28 against Chowan earlier this season. Mitch Wilson went 15 for 18, Austin DiPietro went 11-12, and Jack Spera went 3-3.
Saint Leo was a perfect 20-20 on clear attempts, and picked up 27 ground balls to EC's 7. Mitch Wilson led the way with 13 GBs.
