Wilson named SSC Specialist of the Week

SAINT LEO, Fla. – For the second-straight week, the Saint Leo men's lacrosse team saw a student-athlete honored by the Sunshine State Conference as junior Mitch Wilson was named Specialist of the Week following an outstanding performance in the Lions win over Chowan.

Wilson took a majority of the face-off opportunities against Chowan and helped the Lions retain possession and start their powerful offense. Wilson went 18 of 20 on his attempts and snagged a career-high 13 ground balls to help the Lions gain possession. His 18 wins came at a 90-percent winning percentage. He also added his first career assist in the game. As a team, the Lions won 28 of 34 face-off attempts, setting a new program record for face-offs won.

Wilson is the first Lions to win Specialist of the Week this season, but he joins Kyle Pauwels and Thomas Tatarian who were named Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, after the first weekend of action.

The Lions hits the road to take on Coker on Saturday, Feb. 25 in at 1 p.m. game.
