Lions Check In at No. 15 on Latest USILA DII Coaches Poll

Saint Leo Returns to Poll for First Time Since 2011

SAINT LEO, Fla. – After receiving votes in last week's USILA Division II Coaches Poll, the Saint Leo University men's lacrosse team comes in at No. 15 on this week's poll, it was announced Monday.

The Lions find themselves in the top ranks for the first time since 2011, where their last appearance was in the 2011 DII Preseason Poll released on February 14.  Saint Leo dropped out of the top-12 but still received votes in Week One, released on February 28, 2011, but then fell off the poll completely in Week Two.

The Lions have earned an overall mark of 3-1 to open their 2014 campaign.  After their original season opener was postponed, Saint Leo kicked off its season against then fifth-ranked Limestone, dropping to the Saints by a score of 10-5.

Since then, Saint Leo has picked up three straight, starting with a 13-5 at Shorter University on February 18, and earning a big 12-3 win against Lindenwood in the Lions' home opener on February 22.  Most recently, Saint Leo defeated Catawba 9-8, marking a key south region victory for the Green and Gold.

The Saint Leo men's lacrosse team returns to action on Wednesday, March 5, when they take on Wheeling Jesuit University, at home.  Game time against the Cardinals, who received votes on the latest USILA DII Coaches Poll, is slated for 7 p.m.
