Moore Garners Second-Straight SSC Defensive Player of the Week Honors

Sophomore Goalie Gets Nod After Stellar Play at Catawba

WINTER PARK, Fla. – Saint Leo sophomore goalie Dave Moore has been named the Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week presented by VALIC, for the period ending March 2.

Moore earns his second-straight defensive player of the week accolade after picking up his third consecutive win last week.  The Lake Mary, Fla. native helped the Lions to a 9-8 south region victory over Catawba last week, earning 10 saves in 60 minutes of action, including two big saves in the final 30 seconds to help the Lions win their third straight game.

Joining Moore on the weekly accolade list was Florida Southern freshman A Grant VanOverbeke.  VanOverbeke scored five goals on seven shots, and assisted on two more to lead the Moccasins to a 18-11 win over Rollins in the first-ever SSC league game.  VanOverbeke scored four of his five goals in the second half, including three in the fourth quarter. His two assists came on man-up goals.

The Saint Leo men's lacrosse team returns to action on Wednesday, March 5, when they take on Wheeling Jesuit University, at home.  Game time against the Cardinals, who received votes on the latest USILA DII Coaches Poll, is slated for 7 p.m.
