Moore Earns Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week Honors
WINTER PARK, Fla. – Saint Leo sophomore goalie Dave Moore has been named the Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week presented by VALIC, for the period ending February 23.
Moore recorded two victories in goal for the Lions last week. The Lake Mary, Fla. native gave up just eight goals in two games, made 24 saves for a save percentage of .750. In a 13-5 win over Shorter, Moore made seven saves and faced 17 shots. Against Lindenwood, he allowed just three goals and made 17 saves in a 12-3 victory.
Joining Moore on the weekly accolade list was Florida Tech attackman Brian Bacarella, who was named the Offensive Player of the Week. Bacarella tallied nine goals, two assists and 11 points in two games for the Panthers in their opening week. In an 18-10 victory over Coker, he scored five goals and recorded two assists for seven points. The sophomore fired just eight shots with six on goal. In a 13-12 setback at Belmont Abbey, he scored four more goals, including a man-up goal.
The Saint Leo men's lacrosse team returns to action on Wednesday, February 26, when they take on Catawba College on the road, game time against the Indians is slated for 4 p.m.
