Meet the New Faces of the Saint Leo Men’s Lacrosse Team

SAINT LEO, Fla – With the 2014 season on the horizon, Saint Leo men's lacrosse team will see plenty of fresh faces on the official roster, all of whom will be expected to make a positive impact both on and off the field.

The newcomers hail from various lacrosse hotbeds from around the country, with seven of the 18 calling the Sunshine State home.  Four are New York natives, with two each coming from New Jersey and Ohio, while Maine, Colorado, and Massachusetts round out the list of home states.

Breaking down the list even further, the Lions will gain six defensive players, eight middies, and four attackmen.  With three transfers from junior college programs, the newcomers offer not only various amounts of talent and skill, but assorted amounts of experience and veteran strength to the core of the Green and Gold.

The final installment of "Meet the Newcomers" features the new attackmen, Eric Gendron, Luke Gonzalez, Mike LaGuardia, and Ryan McCarthy.

West Deptford High School

Played under the direction of Head Coach Mike Yarusso. Three year varsity letterwinner. Named Second Team All-Conference in 2010. Earned First Team All-Conference and Second Team All-South Jersey in 2011. Gendron was the team captain his senior year. Holds the record for single season goals with 66

Luke Gonzalez

St. Thomas Aquinas High School

Played for St. Thomas Aquinas High School under the direction of Head Coach Terry Crowley. Named All-District and All-County his Junior year.Gonzalez picked up All-District Honors his senior season. Member of the Team Florida and Florida XTreme club organizations.

Mike LaGuardia
5-7 | 170 | Attackman

Brunswick, Ohio
Padua Franciscan High School

Competed at Padua Franciscan under Coach Fedor... Named to All-Region Third Team... Selected to All-Region Second Team... Named to All-State Second Team... Also competed at Mercyhurst North East CC... Named to All-Region Second Team... Earned Academic All-American honors.  

Ryan McCarthy

Oceanside, N.Y.
Oceanside High School

Played for Oceanside High School under the direction of Jim Gillis. Named to the All-Conference team for lacrosse. McCarthy played for the Long Island Thunder club team for coach Santamaria.
