Men's Lacrosse Upended by Florida Southern on Senior Day

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's lacrosse team had its senior day celebration cut short as the Lions found themselves on the wrong end of a 13-5 final score in Deep South Conference action from University Turf Stadium on Saturday night.

The loss was mostly settled in the opening half as the Lions (7-4, 5-2 DSC) were only able to muster a lone goal, but the visiting Moccasins (6-7, 3-4 DSC) reached the back of the net six times before the halftime intermission.

Saint Leo attempted to rally early in the third quarter behind a Dylan Yonts goal, but FSC once again answered with four goals of its own.  It was a deficit that was too hefty to overcome as the Moccasin defense only allowed the Lions to launch 22 shots toward goal.

The loss by Saint Leo also helped to better clarify the Deep South Conference standings.  With the setback, Tampa becomes the outright DSC champs while Saint Leo finishes second.  Florida Southern now qualifies for the DSC Tournament while Florida Tech and Rollins are eliminated.

Exact tournament seedings, locations and game times will be announced on Sunday.
