SAINT LEO, Fla. - The Saint Leo Lacrosse team continued to garner accomplishments on Monday as Mike Del Buono was tabbed Deep South Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
Del Buono, a native of Southington, Conn., had a sensational week for the Green & Gold. He racked up 23 ground balls in two games played and went 35-of-40 in the face-off circle for the Lions, who went 1-1 in DSC play on the week. Del Buono compiled 10 ground balls and went 14-17 on face-offs in the 9-5 win over Rollins College. He also amassed 21 on face-off wins in the Florida Southern contest.
The nomination is the junior’s second of the year as he was named Defensive Player of the Week on March 22. It is the team’s 11th player of the week selection and the school’s 28th of the 08-09’ school year.
