WINGATE, N.C. – The eighth-ranked Saint Leo University lacrosse team swept the Deep South Conference Player of the Week awards for the second-straight week, league officials announced Monday.
Junior attack Kyle Marceau is the Offensive Player of the Week. Junior midfielder Mike Del Buono is the Defensive Player of the Week, while George Proechel again earns Freshman of the Week honors.
Marceau had three goals and an assist in the 9-7 conference victory over #8 Mars Hill. He racked up 13 shots on the afternoon while also collecting four ground balls as the Lions remained undefeated in Deep South Conference action.
DelBuono helped anchor the Saint Leo defense that held the then-eighth-ranked Mars Hill offense to seven goals. He went 14-for-17 on face-offs on the afternoon, while also collecting five ground balls.
Proechel had two goals and an assist in the victory over Mars Hill. He took five shots on the day, all of which were on goal. Proechel also collected three ground balls as the Lions improved to 8-1 overall and 3-0 in the DSC.
