SAINT LEO, Fla. – The awards continue to filter in for the Lions this season, as attack player Benjamin Brigham was awarded Deep South Conference Offensive Player of the Week, for the week ending April 13.
Brigham had an outstanding week for the Lions, as he scored six goals on only six shots in a 16-3 win over Deep South Conference opponent Rollins College.
His six goals helped the Green & Gold secure the No. 2 seed in this week’s Deep South Conference Tournament. In the process, he tied his teammate Joe Guerin for scoring the second most goals in a single game in program history. He also tied Guerin for the most goals scored by an individual player this season. The native of Scituate, Mass. also picked up four ground balls in the win.
This is the fourth Player of the Week award for Brigham during his four-year career.
The Lions have now seen 21 total student-athletes earn player of the week honors this 2008-2009 athletic season, four of which have been from lacrosse.
Brigham and the rest of the squad now turn their attention to the semifinal round of the DSC Tournament where they are slated to play host school Wingate University, Friday at 4:00 pm from Wingate, N.C. All action can be followed through the Saint Leo Lions AudioCast Network.
