Saint Leo, Fla. (April 14, 2008) –Saint Leo University lacrosse player Benjamin Brigham (Jr., Scituate, Mass.) was named Deep South Conference Offensive Player of the Week, it was announced Monday by league officials.

Brigham helped Saint Leo clinch a spot in the Deep South Conference Tournament with two goals and an assist in a 13-2 win over Rollins on Friday night. That performance followed a four-goal, one-assist showing in Tuesday’s DSC loss to No. 9 Wingate. The junior attack also added a total of five ground balls for the week.

Brigham earned Offensive Player of the Week honors for the second time this season.  Saint Leo student-athletes have no claimed a total of 29 Athlete of the Week honors in the 2007-08 school year.

Wingate University junior defender Clay Westbrook was the Defensive Player of the Week, while Wingate defender Kris Stanford was recognized as the Freshman of the Week.

The Lions (7-7, 1-3 DSC) will head to Mars Hill, N.C. this weekend for the 2008 Deep South Conference Tournament.  Saint Leo will be seeded fourth and will face No. 1 seed Wingate University in Friday’s first semifinal at 5:00 p.m.
