Saint Leo, Fla. (April 11, 2008) – The Saint Leo University lacrosse team (7-7, 1-3 DSC) clinched a spot in the Deep South Conference Tournament with a 13-2 win over visiting Rollins College (2-13, 0-4 DSC) in the regular season finale on Friday night at University Field.

Chris Storrie (Jr., Syracuse, N.Y.) led the Lions with three goals and an assist in the game.  Benjamin Brigham (Jr., Scituate, Mass.) added two goals and an assist, while Nick Bova (So., Eureka, Mo.) and Brian MacMahon (Fr., Middleburg, Va.) each scored two goals apiece.

The game began with 9:36 left in the first quarter, which was the point at which the teams were forced to abandon proceedings on April 1 due to severe weather.

The Lions quickly took control of the contest, scoring the first 12 goals of the game.    Rollins did manage to get on the board twice in the final quarter but the game was well in hand, as Saint Leo defeated Rollins for the second time this season.

The Lions will now face either Catawba or Wingate in the Deep South Conference Tournament Semifinals next Friday at Mars Hill College.  Wingate and Catawba will play each other on Saturday to decide the regular season champion and the top seed in next week’s tournament.
