Gendron and Goss wrap up day one of men’s golf regional

MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. – Saint Leo men's golfers Ryan Gendron and Riley Goss wrapped up day one of the NCAA Division II Men's Golf South/Southeast Regional at the Robert Trent Jones 'The Shoals' course Monday morning.

Ryan Gendron finished his first round of the 2017 regional with a one-under 71, tying his best opening round at a regional dating back to 2014 when he shot a 71 to open up his freshman round. Out of the 18 holes, Gendron connected on 15 pars while he sank two birdies on the day. Gendron finished round one tied for 10th.

Riley Goss concluded his first NCAA postseason round of golf with a seven-over 79. Goss made 11 pars and one birdie on his first 18 holes of postseason golf. After round one, Goss is tied for 84th.

The nation's leader, Chandler Blanchet of West Florida, led all players with a first round 66 (-6) to open up his regional play. Blanchet recorded six birdies and made 12 par's for his first 18 holes of the week.

No. 2 Lynn holds a two-stroke lead over No. 1 West Florida on the team leaderboard. The Fighting Knights fired off a four-under 284 compared to the Argonauts two-under 286.

Goss will tee off for the second round at 1:50 p.m. ET on the first tee where Gendron will tee off at 2:30 p.m. ET off the 10th tee.
