Men’s golf tied for third after Rd. 2 of SSC Championships

VIERA, Fla. – Saint Leo men's golf returned to the par-72 7,051-yard course on Monday morning and matched their opening round total with a one-under 287 to move up two spots on the team leaderboard at the Sunshine State Conference Men's Golf Championships held at the Duran Golf Club.

Three Saint Leo golfers were on the move in the individual leaderboard led by Ryan Gendron who climbed 17 spots after carding a two-under 70 in Monday's second round. Simon Knutsson tried to match Gendron as he fired off a one-under 71 to move 15 spots in the leaderboard. Both Gendron and Knutsson are tied for 24th with a 147 (+3) two round total.

Casey Bannon fired off another even-par round Monday to stand at 144 (E) after two rounds. Bannon jumped five spots on the leaderboard and will start Tuesday's final round out tied for 14th.

Riley Goss, who leads the Lions at 143 (-1), slipped after a two-over 74 Monday morning. Goss sits tied for ninth after two rounds and will kick off the third round five spots ahead of his closest teammate.

Colin Warren fell 12 spots Monday after carding a three-over 75. Warren adds his 75 to his first round 70 for a two-round total of 145 (+1) and sits in 20th.

As a team, the Lions fired off a 287 for a two-round total of 574 (-2) with 13 birdies in round two. The Lions are eight strokes off the clubhouse leader, Barry (-10). The individual leader in the clubhouse is Kyle Brey of Barry with a 138 (-6) total. Brey shot back-to-back 69's to hold a two-stroke lead over Florida Tech's Han Xue (-4, 140).

Saint Leo will return to the course for the final round of the 2017 Sunshine State Conference Championships as the first golfer (Simon Knutsson) will tee off at 8:45 a.m. off of hole no. 1 at the Duran Golf Club.
