Ryan Gendron Claims Medalist Honors at First Federal Southeastern Collegiate

Freshman shoots a third round 69; Lions finish fifth 

VALDOSTA, Ga. – Saint Leo University men's golfer Ryan Gendron shot a third round score of 69, and three-round total of 210, to take medalist honors at the First Federal Southeastern Collegiate held at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club in Valdosta, Ga. As a team, the Lions finished fifth with a three-round score of 881 (296-294-291) just two strokes behind host Valdosta State (879). 

Before his 69 in the third round on Tuesday, Gendron, a freshman from Tampa, finished the first day tied for second place after shooting under par (71-70) in the first two rounds on the par-72 course. 

Shooting a one-over par 73 in the third round were sophomore Liam Ainsworth (74-74-73) and freshman Joey Savoie (77-74-73), earning the duo a share of 23rd and 35th, respectively. 

Sophomore Trevor Joseph finished tied for 65th with a three-day total of 232 (74-76-82), while freshman Casey Bannon was tied for 69th with a 233 (78-79-76) over the two days. 

Barry University, the No. 1 ranked team in the nation, won the two-day 18-team event shooting an 861 for three rounds, six strokes ahead of second place – and No. 2 ranked – Lynn University (867). Armstrong State (878), ranked No. 9 in the nation, rounded out the top three teams. 

Next up for Saint Leo, the Lions will take part in the Panther Invitational hosted by Florida Tech at Majors Gold Club in Melbourne, Fla., March 17-18.
