Brothers in Contention Heading into Final Round

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla.— In the second round of NCAA Divison II South Region men's golf action, Nick Brothers fired an even par 72 and moved up to a tie for 8th place among individuals for the tournament.

Brothers struggled on the front nine, digging himself a hole for the back by carding a pair of double bogeys. Brothers was up for the challenge though as he stormed back and birdied the first three holes on the back nine to get back to just +1 for the round.

Brothers then proceeded to birdie his sixth and eighth holes on the back nine to get to finish with an even 72 for the round.

Starting the day in 19th place, Brothers moved up to 8th place among individuals and will have a shot to contend for a national berth in tomorrow's final round.

As of now, with Barry, Nova Southeastern and Georgia College and State in the top three team slots, Brothers is second among individuals not competing with one of those teams. After tomorrow's round, the top two individuals not advancing with one of the top three teams will advance to the national tournament as an individual.

Brothers will tee off at 11:50 a.m. tomorrow morning off of hole No. 1 for his final 18 holes at the Mission Inn Golf Club. To follow Brothers' final round on live stats, click here
