MIAMI BEACH, Fla.— The men's golf team entered the final day in 12th place, and despite shooting better scores than they did in the opening round, fell one spot to finish in 13th place at the Buccaneer Invitational. After 54 holes of golf the Lions finished with a team score of 305-298-293—896.
Nick Brothers led the way for Saint Leo, shooting a pair of 70's in the final two rounds of the tournament. His 212 overall total for the tournament was strong enough for him to finish in the top 10 among individuals.
Austin Grey struggled in the second round with a 78, but battled back to post a 71 in the final round to put his overall score at 222. Coming in nine strokes behind Grey was Chaz Heinz—who played significantly better today after struggling in the opening round—carding scores of 75 and 76, respectively.
Codi Daudelin finished a stroke behind Heinz with a total score of 232. Daudelin also impressively shaved some strokes off of his first round score by firing rounds of 75 and 76 today.
Rounding out the Lions was Trevor Joseph who scored rounds of 78 and 80 in today's final round. Joseph finished with 238 total for the tournament.
The team gets back out on the course on April 14th when they head to the Sunshine State Conference Tournament--held right next door at Lake Jovita.
