Men's Golf Battles Weather, Enters Final Day of Buccaneer Invitational in 12th Place

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. –The Saint Leo men's golf team opened up play at the Buccaneer Invitational on Monday morning at Normandy Shores Golf Club, part of a 14-team field—four of which are nationally ranked. After the first round Saint Leo sits in 12th place with a team score of 305.

The Lions were scheduled to complete 36 holes on Monday but due to incelement weather and a lengthy delay, the teams will finish up their second rounds tomorrow morning before they tee off for the final round.

Leading the Lions after 18 holes was senior Nick Brothers with a score of 72 (+1). Brothers' opening round was solid enough to place him tied for 13th overall among individuals. Coming in next was Austin Grey, who tallied a 73 (+2) in the first round and sits in 20th place on the individual leaderboard.

True freshman Trevor Joseph and Chaz Heinz were next in line—both firing scores of 80 (+9) in the first round.  Rounding out the Lions' lineup was Codi Daudelin who came in one stroke behind Joseph and Heinz, with an 81 (+10).

Saint Leo trails Valdosta State by two strokes heading into tomorrow, and leading the entire field is the host Barry, who totaled a team score of 284.

The Lions will look to make up some ground as they finish their second round and head into the final 18 holes.
