Men's Golf Finishes Tied for Third at Smokey Mountain Invitational
FLEMING, Fla. – In the final round of the Smokey Mountain Invitational the Lions carded a 292—two strokes lower than their first round score—to finish tied for third place in the tournament with a score of 294-292—586.
"They played well," said head coach Ray Cisbani. "I think we just need to try to work on holding score a little better and I think we'll play better in the bigger matches."
Entering the day in a tie for third place the Lions remained in that tie despite shaving two strokes off their second round score. Finishing atop the leaderboard was Georgia Southwestern State who fired a 286-285—571 to win the tournament.
Austin Grey had a tremendous finish to the tournament as he went out and shot a 68 in the final round. Nick Brothers shot a solid 70 to finish the tournament with a score of 71-70—141 and tied for second among individuals. Trevor Joseph carded a 74 in the final round while Codi Daudelin tallied an 80. Rounding out the Lions was Chaz Heinz with an 82.
Tied with the Lions in third place were Lincoln Memorial and Central Oklahoma.
Next up for the men's golf team is a dual match with the University of Cincinnati on Feb. 28 at Lake Jovita.
