COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Saint Leo University men's golf team wrapped up their second tournament of the fall today in Columbus, Ga. at the AFLAC Cougar Invitational, finishing in 15th place with a score of 314-299-300—913.
Winning the tournament was Florida Southern with their score of 286-296-281—863. Four strokes behind them was Columbus State, the host of the tournament. The Lions bounced back from their poor performance in the opening round of the tournament by firing a 299 in the second round, and following it up with a 300 in the final round. Saint Leo was able to move up one spot in the standings from where they began the day.
Nick Brothers finished the tournament tied for 39th place with his card of 76-75-75—225. Trailing him by a stroke was newcomer Austin Grey, who shot an impressive 73 in the final round to finish the tournament tied for 43rd. Ryan Connors finished third for the Lions, turning in a card of 81-73-78—232. Rounding out the Lions in the tournament were Trevor Joseph, 79-79-76—234, and Justin Foster, 87-77-76—240.
The men's golf team gets back in action next Monday, Oct 8, at the Indian Bayou Classic in Destin, Fla.
