Lions Win Match Play at Warner Invitational

AVON PARK, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's golf team impressed their coach on Tuesday evening as the Lions defeated Webber International in a Match Play format at the River Greens Golf Course in Avon Park.

Again, with no recap or statistics posted on GolfStat.com, the official reference site of NCAA Golf, SaintLeoLions.com interviewed Head Coach Ray Cisbani for a recap of a win that really impressed him.

Here is his take:

"Tuesday's match play event championship against Webber University was as interesting as the format," Cisbani said.  "Nick Brothers was paired against the Tournament stroke play winner Gregg Hughes and after 18 holes convincingly was up 4."

"Ronnie Carlson and Chaz Heinz dominated their match 7-up after 18 and Justin Foster and Rick Briggs ended up 3-down after their 18 hole match."

"Unlike the two previous rounds, I could see the team play more to their potential and trust their swings.  We have our work cut out for us, but with the Florida Tech event coming up March 18-20 we will have time to continue to work on the mental approach to be more successful."

SaintLeoLions.com will post results to the schedule page once they are posted to GolfStat.
