MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's golf team kicked off the 2011-12 championship portion of their schedule by carding a third-place, two-round-588 on Monday afternoon at the Titan Winter Invitational hosted by Brevard Community College and held at the Sun Tree Country Club.
In getting the Lions in prime position to make a move entering the final day, junior Nick Brothers shot a two-round 73-70—143 as he sits in fourth place, just five strokes behind the tournament's individual leader. Junior Justin Foster is locked in a five-way tie for 11th after carding a two-over, 73-73—146 and sophomore Chaz Heintz is one position and one stroke behind his teammate with a 73-74—147.
In 32nd after 36 holes, the final counting card for the Lions came from junior Ronnie Carlson, who posted a consistent 76-76—152. Rounding out the Lions' lineup is sophomore Terry O'Reilly who posted a two-round 80-79—159.
The Lions will look to gain ground on Tuesday as they set their sights on second-place Florida Tech and tournament leader, and host Brevard Community College.
