Men’s Golf in Ninth after Two Rounds of Rollins College Invitational
ORLANDO, Fla. – Nick Brothers once again led the Saint Leo charge as the Lions' men's golfers battled to a ninth place result after the first two rounds of the 2011 Rollins College Invitational were in the books. The Lions posted a team score 303-304—607 as Brothers' 72-71—143 put him in sixth place at the 7,001 yard, par-72 Rio Pinar Country Club on Monday afternoon.
Saint Leo will have some ground to make up on the final day as the team is currently in the last half of a tournament field led by Carson Newman and Newberry, who posted a two-round 296-287—583 and 292-291—583 respectively.
Brothers is looking for another top-5 finish, but will need some help from his teammates as he was the only member of the Green and Gold to finish in the top-half of the field. Second on the team was Justin Foster, whose 75-79—154 was good enough for 46th while Rick Briggs made it into the top 50 with an 82-73—155.
The final counting card for Saint Leo, and coming in 63rd overall was Ronnie Carlson, who finished 76-81—157 after the first two trips around the Orlando, Fla. course.
Phil Horowicz carded a two-round 80-83—163 to complete the Lions' play on Monday.
The Lions return to action on Tuesday, October 25, with the final round of the 2011 Rollins College Invitational. For the latest news, updates, and information on the Saint Leo men's golf team, visit SaintLeoLions.com.
