ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's golf team wrapped up their first tournament of 2011-12 with a ninth place finish on Tuesday in the Jay Jennison Memorial Golf Tournament held at The Palencia Club and hosted by Flagler College. The Lions carded a three round 916 (301-302-313) to finish 35 strokes behind tournament champion Wilmington (Del.).
Leading the Lions through the entire tournament was junior Nick Brothers, who was 4-over for the tournament with a 71-72-77—220 as he finished in 10th overall. Ron Carlson slid into a second place team finish for Saint Leo with a 77-75-79—231, good enough to finish 39th in the tournament field.
Finishing 53rd overall was Justin Foster as he was the most consistent of the Lions with a 78-79-78—235 and Codi Daudelin's 81-76-79—236 posted the Lions' fourth counting card with his 56th place result.
The Lions final player, Mark Sabatino, finished tied for 68th with a three round 75-82-83—240.
Saint Leo will next travel to Destin, Fla. where they will compete in the North Alabama Invitational hosted by the University of North Alabama and held at the Indian Bayou Golf Club. Round one is scheduled to get underway on October 10th.
