SAINT LEO, Fla. – Going into the fall, Coach Ray Cisbani knew he was going to face multiple challenges in replacing one of the most successful classes in program history Still, the departure of Cole Cisbani, Mark McGuire, and JP Albuquerque opened the door for many new faces to show their skill and talent on the course during the fall.
A senior laden team in 2009-10, now sees only one senior on the roster. That senior, Tom Lynn, along with teammate Nick Brothers, now wear the captain ‘C’s’ and have led the way for the Green & Gold over the course of their non-championship schedule.
A fall of ‘great interest’, the Lions saw multiple highs, while experiencing many necessary teaching moments over the course of their three-tournament fall season. Still, Coach Cisbani is very happy in their group’s cohesiveness and potential.
On the course, Brothers and Lynn shot solid rounds of golf for the majority of their tournament opportunities, firing several rounds in the low 70’s.
Cisbani also saw the competitive instinct of his freshmen beginning to unfold. Mark Sabatino demonstrated that on several occasions, scoring rounds of 73 and 70. Justin Foster also played consistent golf, signing his card with four rounds between 74 and 76.
In fact, the lineup from top to bottom continues to show improvement. The season has drawn and even-keeled emotion out of Coach Cisbani as he was quoted as saying, “The team is young, but has potential to do great things. Once they better understand the mechanics of their swings, learn to finish, and gain the necessary course experience, the talent level on this team has the ability to open some eyes.” Cisbani continued by saying, “My expectations are to get better on the course, grow as a team, and make a run at the NCAA South Region again.”
