TAMPA, Fla. – The Saint Leo men’s golf team concluded action at the Spartan Invitational (Hosted by the University of Tampa) in fourth-place with a two-round score of 298-311—609 (+39). After posting a first round 298 on Monday, the Lions fell a few strokes on Tuesday to end the second round with a 311 (+26), from the par-71, 6,802-yard Rogers Park Golf Course in Tampa, Fla.
The squad ended the fourth-of-six teams with host school the University of Tampa claiming the team title. Overall, Brevard Community College’s William Anderson was the individual medalist.
The Lions still received some outstanding performances over the course of the two days, as newcomer Mark Sabatino shot a one-under 70 on Tuesday to complete the tournament with a one-over-142 (73-70—143).
Nick Brothers (72-76—148) also impressed finishing in tie for eighth-place with a six-over-148.
The threesome of Ronnie Carlson, Codi Daudelin, and Rick Briggs each shot in the 80’s to round-out the Lions quintet.
The Lions will return to fall action on Sunday, October 17 when they host the Saint Leo Invitational at the Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club.
