PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - The Saint Leo men’s golf team managed a second-place finish in the final day of the five-team Minnesota State Spring Invitational hosted by Minnesota State and played at the PGA Village Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday.

The Lions, led by Mark McGuire, shot a team total of 291-310--601 to finish behind the University of Indianapolis, who had an unbelievable tournament performance to run away with the win.

Indianapolis posted a 290-276--566 to shoot a 10-under par, beating the second-place Lions by 35 strokes.

As far Saint Leo goes, they were led individually by McGuire, whose four-over-148 put him in sixth place overall.  Cole Cisbani tied in eighth place with a seven-over-151.

In a unique twist, two Lions tied for 14th-place with JP Albuquerque and Matt Cornuet going for a 10-over-154.  Tom Lynn rounded out the Lions golfers with a 16th-place-155 that put him 11-over for the tournament.

The Lions will take Spring Break off before facing the University of Tampa in a dual-match on March 24 that will be played at Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club next to the Saint Leo campus.
