Valdosta, Ga. (March 18, 2008) – The Saint Leo University men’s golf team finished 12th at the First Federal Southeastern Collegiate hosted by Valdosta State University on Tuesday.  The Lions shot a 54-hole total of 936 (312-309-303) at the par-72, 7,209-yard Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.


Florida Southern held on for the win, as the Mocs (293-287-298=878) won by one stroke over Georgia College & State University (296-295-288=879).  Host Valdosta State (290-302-290=882) was just four strokes off the pace in third-place, while the University of West Florida was six strokes back of the winners in fourth (293-299-292=884).  Nova Southeastern rounded out the top-five with a three-day total of 900 (307-294-299).

Southern’s Judson Eustaquio won individual medalist honors, as he won a playoff against Georgia College's Niclas Johansson and Valdosta State’s Brent Witcher.  All three players finished regulation with identical scores of 212 (-4).

Saint Leo was led by Mark McGuire (So., Clifton, N.J.) who finished tied for 44th with a three-day total of 232.  McGuire shot 76-79-77 to finish one stroke in front of teammates Cole Cisbani (So., New Port Richey, Fla.) and Tom Lynn (Fr., Lemont, Ill.).

The Lions return to the links March 31-April1 at the Buccaneer Invitational hosted by Barry University.  The event will be played at Westview Country Club.
