Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. (October 17, 2006) – The Saint Leo University men’s golf team leapfrogged a pair of schools to finish 13th at the 2006 NSU Fall Invitational after a final round score of 311 on Tuesday. The event was held at PGA National Golf Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
The Lions shot 939 as a team (318-310-311), while freshman Mark McGuire carded a final round score of 73 (1-over-par) to finish tied for 22nd individually, as he totaled 226 (74-79-73) during the 54-hole event.
Eckerd College defeated Florida Gulf Coast in a one-hole playoff after both teams remained tied after 54-holes on scores of 894. Individually, West Florida’s Frederico Dumas took home medalist honors with a 1-under-par score of 215 (73-72-70).
The Saint Leo men’s golf team will return to action when it hosts the 2006 SLU Fall Invitational at Lake Jovita on October 30-31.
